Jim Krenn
Jim Krenn is a beloved "Yinzer" and popular Pittsburgh personality, comedian and storyteller.
Jim Krenn rose from the ranks of stand-up comedians to become a popular Pittsburgh personality and spent 24 years co-hosting the city’s top-rated morning show on 102.5 WDVE. He has been voted by numerous newspapers and magazines as one of the most recognizable personalities in the tri-state area, including being voted “Top Entertainer in the City” and “Favorite Radio Personality” 14 times by Pittsburgh Magazine, and was featured on the cover three times. He has also appeared on the cover of WHIRL Magazine, was nominated as one of the “Major Market Personalities of the Year” by Billboard Magazine, and featured in Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s annual year-end caricature in 2015, chosen as one of the people who both represented and made an impact on the city.
As a one of the city’s favorite “yinzers”, Jimmy is one of the co-founders of Yinzer Dogs (alongside Larry Richert and NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino), a Pittsburgh-centric food concept that began as a food truck serving classic local comfort fare (think hot dogs reminiscent of The Original Hot Dog Shop, grilled kielbasa sandwiches, hand-cut fries, and tiny “Yinzer Bites” pierogies) with plans to expand into additional brick-and-mortar locations (they already have one in Cranberry Township). He also teamed up with Larry Richert and cartoonist Rob Rogers to create Yinzer Cards, a fun and humorous way to celebrate the city they love with Pittsburgh greetings you can send to all your friends and family.
One of the area’s most popular and beloved performers, Jimmy has performed with big names including Jay Leno, Howie Mandel, Dennis Miller, Jerry Seinfeld, Richard Lewis, Gilbert Gottfried, Tim Allen and many other nationally-known celebrities. With an act featuring a variety of impressions, characters and anecdotes, including his signature take on local Pittsburgh personalities, sharp observational humor, strong storytelling and relatable comedic style that resonates especially well with regional audiences.
